WELDING ENGINEER NEEDED - MONROE, MICHIGAN
A Leading Automotive Supplier in the Monroe, Michigan area is in need of a Welding Engineer. This is a Full Time, Permanent, Direct Hire Position offering Competitive Compensation, Bonus Potential, Good Benefits, Paid Holidays and Paid Vacation.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for the development, follow-up and launching of new welding equipment, assembly tools, and processes to produce high quality prototype and production parts at required run rates.
Oversee supplier shops in the build of weld and assembly equipment.
Act as the Company's Manufacturing/Engineering representative to tool shops who have been awarded the responsibility to design and build assembly tools. Making sure that internal and customer specifications are followed including quality, cost, and timing constraints during the tool build.
Coordinate and participate in Design Reviews (Concept, 50% & 100%).
Responsible to complete design review documentation and distribute to all team members.
Track timing weekly by obtaining timelines from tool shops.
Conduct periodic reviews at the tool shops to validate and assure on time delivery of equipment.
Coordinate and participate in TSRO s at tool shops.
Responsible for cell functionality and repeatability.
Responsible for cycle time of the equipment as designed and defined in the process payback study.
Responsible for 100% on time delivery of all equipment.
Responsible for weld quality if applicable
Responsible for achieving part dimensional requirements per the customer specification
Assist in the processing and delivery of prototype parts by assuring the assembly processes are replicating production process intent, parts contain and meet part print specification, and provide updated information regarding engineering changes.
Launch assembly processes in the Company's Plants
Overall lead and plant point of contact for assembly processes.
Coordinate with other departments to provide a smooth and timely launch of equipment at the assigned plant(s).
Work in partnership with Advanced Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, and Controls Group to significantly improve the tooling, equipment and processes delivered to our plants.
Develop new tooling and equipment to operate at our defined quoted rate or run rate defined in the process payback review conducted by the Advanced Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering team.
Work with Program Management on project objectives to meet the customer s requirements.
Coordinate and participate in HLRO s at the Company s Manufacturing Plants.
Responsible to complete run off documentation.
Responsible for cell functionality and repeatability.
Reduce the start-up, launch, debug time and cost of new tooling, equipment and process installation into our plants.
Review released parts/assembly prints to the Company for manufacturing Weld and Assembly feasibility.
Review released parts/assembly prints and the quoted process for cost savings.
As required, prepares requests for quote package (RFQ) to send out to tool shops for the design and building of tooling to produce the released parts.
Implement the request for purchase order package and submit for approval.
Maintain through familiarity with assembly developments and new materials in the industry which may be adaptable for use by our organization.
Originates and applies new and unique engineering methods.
Attend weekly APQP meetings and provide updates.
