Venteon Finance is currently seeking a Tax Accountant for a leading manufacturing company located in the Ann Arbor area. Responsibilities include sales and use tax return preparation, determining opportunities for tax reduction and/or refunds, assisting with internal and external audits, and participating in the month end and year end closing process. This position will have a heavy focus on indirect taxes but will also assist in income tax compliance as needed.
Requirements of the Tax Accountant
Minimum of a Bachelor s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
0 to 2 years of position-related experience.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
Intermediate Microsoft Office skills are required.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail are required.
Intellectual curiosity and a desire to learn are essential.
Responsibilities of the Tax Accountant
Prepares state and local tax documents including preparing property tax returns, sales/use tax returns and supporting schedules.
Work with tax supervisor and tax manager and outside accounting firm to prepare federal and state income tax returns.
Recommends tax strategies by researching federal, state, and local taxation issues.
Maintains tax balance in general ledger, including the preparation of journal entries and reconciliations for selected accounts.
Assists with internal/external audits.
