Supplier Improvement Engineer
Minimum 5 Years experience as a Quality / Supplier Improvement Engineer
Venteon is currently seeking an experienced Supplier Development / Improvement Engineer to fill an opening with a manufacturing company located in Metro Detroit. The ideal candidates should have Tier 1 Automotive experience.
Requirements of the Supplier Improvement Engineer
- Bachelor s Degree in engineering required. Advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum 5 years experience in automotive supplier quality/development
- Previous experience working with Suppliers that provide automotive components: example injection molded components, plastic assemblies (cup holders, air vents etc.), chrome parts, rolled good materials, stampings, and other components relative to Interiors, Closures, and Motors & Electronics assemblies.
- Operations/Manufacturing processes technical expertise plastic injection molding, stampings and assembly
- Knowledge of core quality tools (APQP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, and PPAP)
- Demonstrated experience in supplier improvement activities and performing Supplier Process Audits, Run@Rate verification, PFMEA reviews, Control Plan audits, Special Processes evaluations (CQI), and Early Production Containment assessments.
- Knowledge of IATF, VDA, and ISO based quality systems, with Auditor accreditation for systems and processes. Auditor Certification strongly preferred.

Responsibilities of the Supplier Improvement Engineer
- Perform quality and capability assessments for potential suppliers including reporting, follow-up and closure of audit findings and non-conformances
- Perform supplier process audits, Run@ Rate verification, control plan audits, PFMEA reviews, special processes evaluations (CQI), and early production containment
- Provide technical expertise to suppliers in various manufacturing processes: plastic injection molding, stamping, and assembly
- Monitor supplier performance metrics and utilize the appropriate escalation processes with poorly performing suppliers to improve supplier performance.
- Guide suppliers to develop quality strategies to improve quality system implementation, utilizing continuous improvement and problem-solving techniques
- Lead and coordinate Supplier Change Request, supporting Engineering Changes related to suppliers
- Train suppliers and Plant SQEs in Problem Case management.
- Willing to travel globally and sometimes within short notice
- Travel ~50-75%
