Venteon Finance is currently seeking a Senior Accountant for a Real Estate Investment company located in the Detroit area. This position will work with teammates across the firm to operate a smooth, efficient, and organized accounting and finance functions across the funds, the management company, and related entities.
Requirements of the Senior Accountant
- BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics preferred
- Minimum 2 years of Accounting experience, preferably in real estate
- Strong proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Program skills required
- Experience with MRI, Spreadsheet Server, and Quickbooks a plus
- Strong analytical skills, accuracy, and attention to detail
- Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication
Responsibilities of the Senior Accountant
- Prepare complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses, accrued expenses, debt and interest, and investment activity
- Prepare monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for management reporting
- Assist in the month end, quarter end, and year end closing processes including monthly financial close workbook preparation at the fund level, as well as the property level
- Assist in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
- Maintain fixed asset ledger and coordinate with outside accounting firm on fixed asset improvements placed in service, depreciation, and reconciliation to general ledger
- Maintain capital project log inclusive of coordinating approvals, processing payments, tracking capital spend to budget, retaining documentation for audit, and interacting with asset management and acquisition teams
