INDUSTRIAL EQUIPMENT SALES MANAGER - TOLEDO, OHIO 

 

A Leading Manufacturing Company in the Toledo, Ohio area needs an Industrial Equipment Sales Manager. This is a Full Time, Permanent, Direct Hire Position offering Competitive Compensation, Good Benefits, Paid Holidays and Paid Vacation.

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

The Industrial Equipment Sales Manager is responsible for overseeing all sales activities related to overhead cranes, hoists, lifting devices, and material-handling systems. This role leads the sales team, manages customer relationships, develops strategic sales plans, and ensures growth in revenue, profitability, and market share. The Sales Manager works closely with Engineering to deliver accurate quotes, successful projects, and exceptional customer service.

 

Sales Leadership & Strategy

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the crane sales team to achieve revenue, margin, and growth targets.

  • Develop and execute strategic sales plans focused on new business development and expanded market penetration.

  • Establish annual sales goals, performance metrics, and territory strategies.

 

Customer Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships with industrial accounts, contractors, OEMs, and end users.

  • Conduct customer site visits to assess needs, gather technical requirements, and deliver product recommendations.

  • Ensure timely responses to customer inquiries, RFQs, and service requests.

 

Quoting & Technical Sales

  • Review customer specifications and collaborate with the Engineering Department on accurate, competitive quotes.

  • Provide technical expertise on overhead cranes, hoists, below the hook lifting devices, runway systems, and automation solutions.

  • Ensure all proposals align with OSHA, ANSI, CMAA, and company engineering standards.

 

Project Collaboration

  • Partner with Project Engineering, Production, and Installation teams to ensure successful project handoff and execution.

  • Participate in kickoff meetings and provide clarity on customer expectations and technical requirements.

  • Support project teams with customer communication throughout the project lifecycle.

 

Market Development

  • Identify emerging trends, competitive activity, and new market opportunities.

  • Develop strategies to expand the company s footprint in key vertical markets such as manufacturing, automotive, steel, distribution, and logistics.

  • Represent the company at trade shows, industry events, and customer demonstrations.

 

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly sales forecasts, activity reports, and pipeline updates.

  • Track sales KPIs and team performance results.

  • Review and approve quotes, pricing strategies, territory plans, and customer proposals.

  • Maintain accurate CRM records, customer contacts, and sales documentation.

 

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure all recommended solutions meet OSHA, ANSI, and CMAA safety requirements.

  • Promote a safety first culture when evaluating customer sites and developing equipment recommendations.

  • Support internal teams in communicating safe installation and equipment usage practices.

  • Authority to stop production in the event due to poor quality, unsafe parts or conditions appear. 

  

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

 

  • A Bachelor s Degree in Business, Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field preferred.

  • Equivalent experience in the crane or material handling industry considered.

  • 5+ years of sales experience in overhead cranes, hoists, industrial equipment, or heavy mechanical systems.

  • 2+ years in a leadership or sales management role preferred.

  • Strong understanding of crane systems, lifting solutions, and industrial applications.

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a sales team.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Strong negotiation, closing, and customer service abilities.

  • Ability to read technical drawings and understand load calculations is preferred.

  • Proficiency in CRM systems and Microsoft Office.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
