Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and organized HR Specialist to support the company s day-to-day human resources operations on a flexible, part-time basis. Based in Auburn Hills, MI, this contract-to-hire role starts at one day per week with potential for expanded hours The ideal candidate is self-motivated, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing a wide range of HR functions independently.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate with third-party payroll provider to ensure timely and accurate payroll processing
Act as the liaison with our 401(k) plan administrator to manage enrollments, updates, and employee communications
Maintain up-to-date and compliant employee records and personnel files
Manage onboarding and offboarding processes, including orientation and exit documentation
Provide employees with guidance on HR policies, procedures, and benefits
Assist with employee engagement, communications, and internal HR-related updates
Support recruitment tasks including posting jobs, pre-screening candidates, and interview coordination
Handle HR compliance, reporting, and other general HR administrative duties as needed
Qualifications
Required:
2+ years of HR experience (e.g., HR Specialist, Generalist, or Coordinator)
Hands-on experience working with payroll systems and/or payroll providers
Familiarity with 401(k) plan administration and benefit coordination
Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices
Excellent attention to detail, confidentiality, and communication skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and HR software systems
Preferred:
Experience working in a small-to-mid-sized business environment
Prior experience in automotive, manufacturing, or professional services industries
