HUMAN RESOURCE GENERALIST NEEDED - HILLSDALE, MICHIGAN
A Leading Automotive Supplier in the Hillsdale, Michigan area is in need of an HR Generalist. This is a Full Time, Permanent, Direct Hire Position offering Competitive Compensation, Good Benefits, Paid Holidays and Paid Vacation.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the HR Manager, the Human Resources Generalist is responsible for all daily Human Resources activities at the plant, primarily serving the hourly employee base. Provides excellent customer service to plant employees and leadership as well as handling employee concerns in a timely manner.
Work closely with plant management in driving an injury-free workplace through the development and execution of plant and corporate safety objectives.
Apply all human resource policies and programs related to employment law, employee health and safety, staffing, wage and salary compensation, benefits, and worker's compensation.
Develop ways to recruit and attract superior candidates and retain talented employees. Manage all aspects of hourly plant recruitment including internal posting, advertising, applicant tracking, screening, interviewing, pre-employment screens, offer letters, and onboarding.
Drive, influence, advise and support the cultural and people aspects of organizational change, structures, people processes and initiatives within the organization in order to improve operational efficiency and people management.
Lead and execute all plant HR initiatives, focused on hourly employees, including employee relations, performance management, HR compliance, organizational development and training. Participates in developing departmental goals, objectives and processes.
Ensure compliance with all federal, state and local employment legislation and regulations by remaining current with legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions.
Responsible for coordinating hourly education and training programs and maintaining training and competency records.
Work closely with Quality function to ensure IATF compliance in relevant areas.
Maintains hourly employee personnel records.
Responsible for managing and improving all plant hourly communication channels.
Ensure effective employee relations in matters of supervision, discipline, performance management, motivation, discharge, and promoting a non union environment.
Work closely with the global HR team on the implementation of organizational learning and employee development solutions, focused on the hourly employee base.
Take active role in talent development process including for their own personal development.
Support the plant team in the achievement of their goals and objectives.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in human resources, industrial relations or business administration, or other relevant professional experience.
3- 5 years of progressive, professional Human Resources experience in a manufacturing environment.
Skills, Certifications, Abilities:
Knowledge of OSHA/ MIOSHA laws and regulations relating to worker compensation.
Knowledge of employment law, ADA, FMLA, and related government programs necessary.
PLEX, ADP/payroll, Employee Navigator strongly preferred.
Manages safety program including investigations, W/C claims, root cause detection, actionable items, and read across as issues arise.
Plans/coordinates associate events such as summer picnic, service awards, social committee, etc.
Demonstrated hands-on experience in the administration of policies and programs related to employment law, employee health and safety, staffing, wage and salary compensation, benefits, and worker's compensation.
Strong business acumen and ability to understand business priorities and translate them into an HR agenda and goals that support the business.
Outstanding interpersonal and coaching skills. Ability to thrive in a fast paced environment and to navigate leaders through organizational change.
Demonstrated ability to assess talent and improve talent assessment capabilities within an organization.
Must have ability to exercise independent judgment, handle highly confidential sensitive information, flexing to changing needs and situations.
Able to relate to, influence and coach employees at all levels in the plant environment.
Must be even-tempered and under control when dealing with emotional or serious situations.
Must be very approachable and able to develop strong professional relationships and foster involvement at all levels of organization.
