Field Service Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented Field Service Technician to support the deployment and optimization of Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) systems. This role is responsible for mapping plant floor layouts, configuring navigation paths, and ensuring accurate alignment between facility design and AGV operations. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in manufacturing environments, has strong technical aptitude, and can translate floor layouts into digital mapping systems for AGV use.

Key Responsibilities

  • Travel to customer facilities to perform on-site mapping of plant floor layouts for AGV implementation.

  • Operate specialized software and equipment to generate accurate digital maps of plant environments.

  • Configure and adjust AGV routes, paths, and boundaries within mapped layouts.

  • Collaborate with engineering, project management, and customer teams to align AGV navigation requirements with operational needs.

  • Troubleshoot mapping or alignment issues and perform adjustments in the field.

  • Document and maintain accurate records of site maps, updates, and changes.

  • Train facility personnel on system usage, updates, and basic troubleshooting.

  • Ensure compliance with customer safety protocols and internal quality standards during field work.

Qualifications

  • Associate s degree or technical training in electronics, mechatronics, automation, or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • 2+ years of experience in field service, industrial automation, or AGV/AMR systems preferred.

  • Strong understanding of plant floor layouts, navigation systems, and mapping technologies.

  • Proficiency with digital mapping software, CAD tools, or similar platforms.

  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to travel frequently (up to [X%]) to customer sites.

  • Strong communication and customer service skills.

  • Comfortable working in manufacturing and industrial environments.
