Field Operations Manager

Minimum 3 years of Field Operations Experience

Venteon is currently seeking an experienced Field Operations Manager to fill an opening with a Construction Company located in the Saginaw / Bay City area. Must have experience in bidding, estimating and managing construction projects. 

 

Requirements of the Field Operations Manager

  • Bachelor s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred).
  • 7+ years of experience in infrastructure and utilities construction, including 3+ years in an operations or senior project management role.
  • Proven success in bidding and estimating public and private contracts, including experience with government procurement processes.
  • Strong knowledge of underground utility systems, site development, and civil infrastructure projects.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with experience overseeing multiple crews, subcontractors, and simultaneous projects.
  • Proficiency in construction management and estimating software (e.g., HeavyBid, HCSS, Bluebeam, Procore, AutoCAD).
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts, unit pricing, and change order management.
  • OSHA 30, PMP certification, or relevant credentials are a plus.

Responsibilities of the Field Operations Manager

  • Project Oversight: Manage and coordinate the full lifecycle of infrastructure and utility construction projects from planning and permitting through execution and closeout.
  • Contract Bidding & Estimating: Lead or oversee the preparation of bids, estimates, and RFP responses for public and private infrastructure projects. Collaborate with estimators, engineers, and business development teams to develop competitive, accurate proposals.
  • Cost Analysis: Perform detailed takeoffs, labor and equipment cost calculations, and risk assessments. Identify cost-saving strategies and alternatives during the estimating process.
  • Field Operations Management: Direct daily field operations including scheduling, labor allocation, equipment use, and materials management to ensure timely and efficient project delivery.
  • Contract Administration: Manage and review project contracts, change orders, and subcontractor agreements to ensure scope clarity, proper documentation, and compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements.
  • Budget Control: Monitor and control project budgets, cash flow, and job cost reports. Ensure accurate cost tracking and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Regulatory & Safety Compliance: Ensure all work meets OSHA standards and complies with DOT, environmental, and municipal requirements. Conduct site audits and safety briefings.
  • Client & Agency Relations: Serve as the key point of contact for clients, utility companies, municipalities, and regulatory bodies throughout project execution.
  • Process & Performance Improvement: Implement standardized processes and operational best practices to increase efficiency, safety, and quality across the organization.
  • Reporting: Provide senior leadership with regular updates on bid activity, project performance, risk, and revenue forecasts.
