ENGINEERING MANAGER NEEDED - ADRIAN, MICHIGAN
A Leading Automotive Supplier in the Adrian, Michigan area is in need of an Engineering Manager. Previous Engineering Management Experience in an Automotive Manufacturing Plant is Needed. Metal Stamping and Welding Expertise is Required.
This is a Full Time, Permanent, Direct Hire Position offering Competitive Compensation, Bonus Potential, Good Benefits, Paid Holidays and Paid Vacation.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepares technical review presentations including Process Concepts, Capital Requirements, Take Time Requirements and Operator Requirements.
- Procures estimates for equipment and process costs.
- Calculates equipment cycle times based on customer requirements
- Takes equipment from quotation to installation for new programs and/or change to existing programs as a result of engineering changes.
- Liaises with vendors and monitors progress through quotation, design, build, and installation stages of all new equipment necessary for new programs.
- Ensure equipment meets all cost, quality, reliability and productivity requirements.
- Compiles all required documentation and generate purchase requisition to Engineering Manager for signature.
- Coordinates all equipment sample runs at both vendor and in-house locations.
- Ensures supplier provides all pertinent documentation including detail drawings, electrical schematics and instruction manuals etc, and forward to appropriate departments.
- Responsible for process development, program documentation and the creation of Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis (PFMEA’s), process flow charts.
- Facilitate training sessions to internal employees on an as needed basis (may include welding, robotics, PLC)
- Responsible for documenting current projects e.g. cost, quotes, pay back, timelines, goals, etc. and provides information to management.
- Co-ordinates the implementation of ECN’s (Engineering Change Notices), internally or customer driven.
- Responsible for updating and product related documentation, e.g. set-up and operator instruction sheets, etc. and providing operator training as required. Assists operators in trouble shooting issues related to new equipment and provides recommendations on corrective action to prevent re-occurrence.
- Laser based process and product development.
- Research and development of new laser systems and equipment.
- Support all operations with laser training, start-up, testing and preventative maintenance plans.
- Any other reasonable request made by management.
- Contributes to a safe, clean and comfortable work environment that complements the Occupational Health and Safety Act by ensuring the principles of the 5S discipline (simplify, separate, sanitize, standardize and support) are supported and adhered to.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Experience in the automotive industry with exposure to building equipment, programmable logic control, electrical, robotics, welding, mechanical and modular assemblies.
- Knowledge of CAD software for developing functional equipment, material flow lay-outs and viewing and manipulating of files for presentations
- Knowledge of Operator Method Analyses (MOST/MODAPTS)
- Ability to read and interpret blue print drawings
- Working knowledge of Advanced Quality Planning processes
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Effective problem solving and decision making skills
- Ability to deal with conflict and/or resistance
- Ability to handle multi-tasks and changing priorities
- Ability to analyze information received from a variety of sources and provide recommendations
- Works well in a team environment and has effective presentation skills
- Excellent analytical skills and exercises sound judgment
- Computer skills, i.e. Microsoft Office, Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, CAD
- A Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering / Industrial / Robotic or equivalent job related experience
