EHS Specialist - Farmington, CT

 

Minimum 3 years of experience as an EHS Specialist

Venteon is currently seeking a EHS Specialist to fill an opening with a manufacturing company located in Farmington, CT

 

Requirements of the EHS Specialist

  • Bachelors degree Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety 

  • Minimum experience 5-10 Years

  • Management of OSHA programs in a manufacturing environment

  • Designing and conducting health and safety training programs

  • Investigating - incidents

  • Advised regarding health or safety issues

  • Visual ability (corrected) to read directions and prints and to inspect parts closely to ensure that they meet specifications.

  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate machinery for precision work.

  • Physical ability to do work requiring frequent stooping and bending.

  • Ability to lift up to 35lbs unassisted

Responsibilities of the EHS Specialist

  • Follow programs to ensure compliance with environmental regulations, including REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals), RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances), and conflict minerals reporting requirements

  • Participate in environmental audits to ensure adherence to environmental standards. Take responsibility for environmental programs such as hazardous waste management, spill prevention, and water/air quality compliance

  • Responsible for management of environmental data and documentation, ensuring all necessary permits are obtained and reports are submitted to regulatory bodies

  • Complete customer surveys that pertain to REACH, RoHS, Prop65, PFAS, TSCA, conflict minerals, etc.

  • Provide new-employee environmental, health, and safety orientations and develop materials for these presentations.

  • Coordinate "right-to-know" programs regarding hazardous chemicals or other substances.

  • Fork Lift Training

  • Safety Training

  • Enforce OSHA Guidelines throughout daily operations

  • Order suspension of activities that pose threats to workers' health or safety

  • Investigate accidents to identify causes or to determine how such accidents might be prevented in the future

  • Evaluate employee accommodation for light / restricted duty and or health concerns

  • Recommend measures to help protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, or materials

  • Investigate health-related complaints and inspect facilities to ensure that they comply with public health legislation and regulations

  • Inspect specified areas to ensure the presence of fire prevention equipment, safety equipment, or first-aid supplies

  • Oversee the safety teams
