Job Description

Venteon is currently seeking a 1st shift CMM Programmer  to fill an opening with a Growing company in New Hampshire The ideal candidate should have at least 3 years of experience with Zeiss Calypso software
 
We have openings in Rochester as well as Exeter, NH
 

Primary Responsibilities off the CMM Programmer

  • Understand and apply the principle that the CMM programming group is a service department, and their primary duty is to assist the factory floor in a supportive function.
  • Work closely always and assist the CNC programming group, engineers, quality leadership and quality inspectors in a CMM technical support /training role.
  • For assigned products, work with available resources (programmers and equipment), ensuring production stops are at an absolute minimum.
  • Edit and prove out existing CMM programs on lower level less complex and minor issues or discrepancies, mainly on the production floor, using Zeiss Calypso software from 3D solid-models and 2D drawings as per instructions of senior level CMM programmers.
  • Successfully set up every different CMM with minimum supervision.
  • Be on call at short notice to step in and run production as needed, for assigned parts.
  • Perform surface plate layout and inspection using conventional measurement equipment (micro-height, comparator, sine plates, height stands, etc..) as required for production or operational needs.
  • Audit database of proven CMM programs for production and communicate with Level II or III programmers to update, correct or verify programs.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations (including geometry and trigonometry) to prove out part dimensions.
  • Utilize available resources to ensure CMM programs are available before production begins, including: First Articles (FA s), revisions, and new product launches.
  • Utilize available resources to ensure CMM programs are available prior to production, regardless of originator, including: First Articles (FA s), revisions, and new product launches.
  • Utilize available resources to develop CMM programs when gaging is not readily available for production or to assist Metrology on inspecting gages in support of regular production.
  • Maintain open communication between the CMM group and your immediate supervisor/ make suggestions and recommendations for improvements.
  • Work with other departments in the completion of CMM related project work related to continuous improvement (e.g., gage R&R s, quality MSA s, Equator integration).

Secondary Responsibilities of the CMM Programmer

  • Maintain continuity among work shifts through documentation and communication.
  • Basic understanding and application of problem solving and quality fundamentals, including root cause analysis; process control and variation reduction (e.g., six-sigma); and lean principles including 5S and Visual Management.

Education and/or Experience of the CMM Programmer

  • Minimum 1-3 years experience as a CMM Programmer using Zeiss Calypso software with 3-5 years experience as a Quality inspector, including surface plate layout work.
  • Will be working toward improving and developing skills consistent with a Level II programmer. A minimum of 320 hours programming time will be required for a CMM programmer eligible to be sent for the Basic Zeiss training certification.
  • Can effectively program Zeiss articulating and fixed head CMMs, including set-up, and prove out, with minimal supervision.
  • Able to read and interpret technical drawings per ASME Y14.5M-2009 and otherwise have a working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Effective communication skills, and the ability to work with others in a team environment.
  • High School or GED Diploma required and BS / AS degree in mechanical, manufacturing, quality or other engineering discipline preferred.
  • Basic office computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, and MRP systems (e.g., Oracle).
