ASSEMBLY OPERATIONS MANAGER NEEDED - LANSING, MICHIGAN AREA

A Leading Automotive Supplier in the Lansing, Michigan area needs an Operations Manager for Assembly. This is a Full Time, Permanent, Direct Hire Position offering Competitive Compensation, Bonus Potential, Good Benefits, Paid Holidays and Paid Vacation.
 
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
Responsible for managing and executing the daily operations of the Assembly and Laser Departments. Responsible for training, directing/mentoring hourly associates and related salary support staff.
 
   Leads the development of work instructions, training on processes, and supervises daily operations.
   Monitors and reports daily production activities with regards to SPC.
   Identifies, develops, and implements strategies to attain production targets with respect to SQDCM.
   Leads daily production meetings to communicate production goals and provide feedback on overall team performance.
   Evaluates employee areas of improvement and implements strategies relating to employee development.
   Provides overall employee/team development strategies through training, coaching, counseling, and performance measurement.
   Responsible for the operation functions of the assembly/laser department.
   Maintains and updates Business Operating System reporting requirements.
   Leads and implements Kaizen events related to continuous improvement activities.
   Performs other activities as related to the scope of the position.
 
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
 
   BS in Operations Management, Engineering, or other closely related field; -or- 8 plus years experience in directly related operations is accepted in lieu of degree. 
   5+ years experience in automotive industry.
   5+ years experience in robotic welding and laser cutting preferred.
   Experience in supervising other employees.
   Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
   Excellent organizational skills.
   Familiarization with MRP and scheduling concepts, preferably SAP.
   Exceptional computer skills, particularly with Excel, Production and Inventory Control Systems.
