1st Shift Controls Technician - Canton, MI

 

Minimum 5 years of experience as a Controls Technician

 

Venteon is currently seeking a Controls Technician to fill an opening with a manufacturing company located in Canton, MI

60% Travel 

 

Requirements of the Controls Technician

  • Associates Degree Automation Technology or similar Electrical/Electronic Engineering Degree and/or equivalent experience.

  • 1-3 years of experience with high-speed machines or other automated equipment in an industrial environment 

  •  

  • Physical Requirements: 

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; stoop, kneel, crouch.

  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds. 

  • Travel up to 65% of the time, weekend and overtime work may be required.

Responsibilities of the Controls Technician

  • Troubleshoots, maintains, repairs, and builds industrial control systems.  To be successful in this role, the position requires both hands-on skills in basic hand tools to wire and assemble, as well as in-depth technical knowledge of Industrial PLC controls and automation systems.  

  • Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems is also required.

  • Assemble, wire, evaluate, test, and maintain industrial electrical and/or electronic wiring, equipment, industrial machines, and apparatus.

  • Troubleshoot and repair malfunctioning equipment, machines, and apparatus.

  • Construct and fabricate parts, using hand tools and specifications.

  • Read, interpret and execute contents of electrical and electronic circuit blueprints, diagrams, and schematics.

  • Order electrical parts and supplies.

  • Complete work according to written and or verbal instructions.

  • Perform equipment start up and verification at the customer sites

  • Perform other duties assigned from time to time by the management team. 

  • This is a salary non-exempt position

     

  • Strong customer service

  • Use of PC and application software, including CAD (preferred)

  • Use of technician tools, including meters, power tools, panel punches

  • Time-management and organizational 

  • Knowledge of industrial controls devices including photo-electric sensors, proximity switches, solenoid valves, frequency and servo drives, and PLC I/O
