2ND SHIFT ASSISTANT OPERATIONS MANAGER - FORT WAYNE, INDIANA
 
A Leading Automotive Supplier in the Fort Wayne, Indiana area is in need of a 2nd Shift Assistant Operations Manager. This is a Full Time, Permanent, Direct Hire Position offering Competitive Compensation, Bonus Potential, Good Benefits, Paid Holidays and Paid Vacation. 
 
This individual will be responsible for Increasing company profitability by providing quality products to customers, meeting production requirements, and maintaining a safe workplace for all operations on the assigned shift; including but not limited to Production, Quality, Maintenance, Tooling, Material Handling & Shipping & Receiving.
 

RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
Responsible for ensuring all personnel are working in a safe and efficient manner
Recruits, retains, and manages subordinate personnel to ensure well qualified and motivated associates and departments
Responsible for following production, maintenance and other projects as directed, typically by the 1st shift Supervisor or Operations Manager
Ensures all relevant communications are cascaded throughout the organization on their shift as well as between the shifts
Ensures all necessary support teams are contacted as needed and they provide the necessary support for critical plant operations
Train, coach & mentor shift Group Leaders
Ensures Group Leaders are effectively leading their teams in terms of safety, communications, motivation, providing regular & constructive feedback, recognition & reward
Evaluation of Production Capabilities, review Maintenance Planning activities
Review Plant equipment, production capacity and plant layouts
Review Manpower requirements & recommend necessary adjustments
Review day to day production concerns and shipping demands
Responsible for emergency preparedness and evacuation
Responsible for plant housekeeping
Review Customer Quality concerns and resolutions
Support, encourage and participate in G.E.A.R. & CI activities
Conduct employee performance reviews for department personnel; at a minimum, annually
Submits training needs to HR as determine from departmental needs and employee evaluations
Work in compliance with ISO 14001 / TS16949 standards
Perform other duties as required
Measurement Bases: Financial Performance of division, QWL Surveys, Customer Surveys and Feedback, and Production effectiveness ( schedule attainment, quality)
Manage Group Leaders who manage and supervise hourly direct and indirect associates in the areas of production, quality, skilled trades and shipping & receiving. Manage salaried personnel on their respective shift. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of these units. May also directly supervise non-supervisory associates as needed.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
 
 
QUALIFICATIONS:

Ability to read, write, and speak clearly in English
Familiar with TS16949/ISO14001, Safety processes & procedures, workplace inspection and measuring equipment
Capable of organizing and managing priorities, business equipment and problem solving techniques.
Ability to interact with all levels of employees in a multicultural organization and provide direction and leadership.
Familiarity with a MRP system in an automotive manufacturing environment.


EDUCATION:
 
A Bachelors Degree (B.A.) or equivalent; or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in an automotive manufacturing environment.
